As the Dour festival 2017 is approaching, we would like to write about some of the Belgian artists present in the official line-up. The least we can say is that Belgian artists are taking over the place this year!
As you can see, there are quite a few playing during these four days. We have selected 10 of them, in order to give you an idea of the musical diversity of the Dour:
Reggaebus Soundsystem: Why are they playing four times? Because it’s the resident team of the Dub Corner bro! Present at the festival for the third year in a row, Reggaebus Soundsystem will play (of course) reggae and dub.
Bruxelles arrive: Brussels is coming… And so are Roméo Elvis & le Motel + Caballero & JeanJass! Bruxelles arrive refers to their common hymn which has registered more than 2 million views on Youtube. Many featurings and guests will mark this historical one-shot, unmissable!!
Animal Youth: The new rock sensation, Animal Youth, is ready to shine out! Their new album, untitled “Animal“, is a pretty good mix of shoe gaze and post-punk music. It is composed of agressive riffs and heavy drumming, both accompanied with an aerial voice.
Raw District: Massimo Da Costa & Vernon Bara are back with their house music project Raw District on their own label Homecoming Music. The two DJs are exploring the darkest and deepest side of house music, directly influenced by the Berlin scene. It’s minimal and mesmerizing!
Orage Plastique: Analogical and urban Pow Wow, Orage Plastique is creating his music on the ruins of a video arcade. Also in the woods of an ancient autochthonous rave party. As the winners of the Tremplin Dour Festival 2017, we will follow them with interest!
Témé Tan: Témé Tan is traveling between Detroit, Brasil and Kinshasa. Nevertheless, it’s in the cosmopolitan city of Brussels that he is composing a melting-pot of sonorities. A positive and universal energy which fills the atmosphere with groove and afro-pop fragrances.
BRUTUS: This trio from Louvain is at the same time bold, fresh, heavy, young and already experienced such as its lively singer-drummer Stefanie Mannaerts. From Shoe Gaze to hardcore Punk, passing by Math Rock and Black Metal, BRUTUS will introduce you to its influences with explosive guitar riffs.
Murdock: Emblem of the Belgian Drum&Bass scene, founder of Radar Records, outstanding promoter and DJ, Murdock is very versatile. He is going to set the stage on fire with an already dantesque show, for his twelfth time at Dour!
Charlotte de Witte: Techno revelation of 2017 for Tsugi, it is with great pleasure that we will find Charlotte de Witte at the Dour Festival. The young Belgian artist coming from Gent produces a dark techno, without compromise, devastating the biggest European clubs and festivals. Her new EP “Voices of the Ancient” can be summed up in one word : BRUTAL!
L’Or du Commun: L’or Du Commun is one of those bands with their roots in Brussels that are part of the emergence of the Belgian rap. Loxley, Primero and Swing, buddies of Roméo Elvis have just released a new EP, “Zeppelin” and they are eager to show it to us!
