Blackwave: A duet that will weight in the Rap game

blackwave.
The duet blackwave. represents Belgium as it is: a French speaker, a Dutch speaker and multicultural teams to work with! Blackwave. is characterized by an original and fresh Hip-Hop sound mixed with Jazz and Pop, sharp-cut flows and — on stage, Jazz musicians.

blackwave._AirplaneModeWho are the ones behind blackwave? The answer resides in two names, Will and Jay.

Firstly, Willem Ardui has already made some buzz with his eponymous solo project. His dutch single ‘Morse’ has seen some airplay on Belgian radio and has over 275k streams on Spotify. Secondly, rapper Jaywalker is relatively new to the music scene. Nevertheless, with his background as a sound engineer, he also records and mixes everything produced by blackwave.

After creating an official Triggerfinger ft. Methodman-remix, the two decided to work on a project together. Live, the band is accompanied by “the Dot”, three jazz musicians of the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.

Blackwave. will be playing at the Charlatan the 23rd July alongside TheColorGrey (our article about him) and also at the Pukkelpop on 17th August. Breaking news : they’ve just announced their first headline show at the Trix on the 23rd of November!

Their 1st single untitled “Flow ft Caleborate” , had its premiere in Clash Magazine and also been supported by Studio Brussels, Faisal, LeFto, De Standaard (which has named Willem Ardui as one talent to watch in 2017), BRUZZ, Elektropedia and many more.

Caleborate (Caleb Parker) is a rapper from Berkelee, creating some buzz in the Bay Area. His latest album has been featured in the biggest blogs (NME, The Fader, …) and ten months ago he made a track with G-EazyCaleborate and Willem Ardui have been working together for a long time now. Moreover, Willem produced the biggest part of Caleborate’s second and third albums.

Another track of this EP, untitled “Big Dreams”, was in the playlist of a majority of national Dutch-speaking and French-speaking radios as well !
