For women’s rights day, WHAT is a WOMAN will be exhibiting at the Écuries de Boitsfort from the 3rd to the 12th of March. WHAT is a WOMAN is a photographic journey from Vietnam to Belgium across Eurasia. It goes way further than portraying women; it reflects the present and the past, cultures, religions and communities…
“WHAT is a WOMAN” is an ode to the silent pillars of societies
Ethel Karskens, a writer and a photographer, went on a year-long solo trip to meet these faces, smiles and lives. She traveled from Hanoï to Brussels and gathered not only pictures, but also testimonies. Breaking down the barriers between cultures, religions, social classes and countries, her work offers a new insight on “the second sex”.
A closing evening will take place on Friday the 10th of March.
What is a woman – a lyric journey of charming encounters.
